In a Refreshing Breeze, Incorruption Grows in Hearts—The 5th China · Tongxiang Incorruption Comics Exhibition Opened

On July 29, 2019, the 5^th China · Tongxiang Incorruption Comics Exhibition opened in Zhejiang Library. The exhibition is co-sponsored by China Artists Association, the Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Supervisory Commission of Zhejiang Province, and the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and co-organized by China’s Artists’ Association Cartoon Committee, Zhejiang Artists Association, Zhejiang Library, the Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Supervisory Commission of Jiaxing, the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiaxing Municipal Committee, the CPC Tongxiang Municipal Committee, and Tongxiang Municipal People’s Government.

 

Incorruption comics blow a refreshing breeze, and anti-corruption and advocacy of incorruption win the support of the people. The exhibition is not formalistic but aimed at winning great popularity among the people.

The exhibition displays 143 excellent award-winning works from the 5^th China · Tongxiang Incorruption Comics Competition, which were selected from over 23,000 works of over 7,000 comics enthusiasts in 32 provinces (cities and districts) across China. Besides, you can also enjoy specially invited works created by several famous comics artists in China such as Chen Liqing, director of China’s Artists’ Association Cartoon Committee, Xu Pengfei, honorary director of China’s Artists’ Association Cartoon Committee on the construction of incorrupt Zhejiang at the exhibition.

Leaders of the Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Supervisory Commission of Zhejiang Province, the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Supervisory Commission of Jiaxing, the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiaxing Municipal Committee, China Artists Association and Tongxiang Municipal People’s Government attended the first exhibition, and enjoyed it with great interest.

As the organizer of the exhibition, Zhejiang Library aims to not only popularize the artistic form of comics among readers, but also help them comprehend the profound meanings behind comics. Art comes from life and goes beyond it, of which extraction and generalization are its means and acceptance and support from the people are its weapons. The determination to combat corruption shown in the form of comics will surely strike a chord.    

 

Tongxiang, hometown of Feng Zikai, a famous comic artist, is honored as “Hometown of Chinese Comics”. To coordinate with the exhibition and win greater recognition among the people for the artistic form of comics, the organizer will also give themed lectures on “Zikai’s Comics” and “New Paintings of Ancient Poems” on August 3.
