A Delegation from the National Library Board of Singapore Visits Zhejiang Library

On March 21, 2024, Ms. Catherine Lau, Deputy Chief Executive of the National Library Board of Singapore, leading a delegation of 8 members, visited Zhejiang Library. They visited Zhijiang main Library and were received by Hu Hairong, Director of Zhejiang Library, Zhu Yechen and Zhang Xuejian, Deputy Directors of Zhejiang Library.

 

 

 

 

 

The delegates toured areas such as the hall of knowledge, the children’s reading area, the art reading area, the classic books reading area and more. Throughout the visit, they gained an in-depth understanding of the Topnod(鲸探) digital collection and the accessible reading area for the visually impaired.

 

 

 

 

In the meeting held later, Director Hu Hairong gave a brief introduction about the branches, collection and reading promotion initiatives of Zhejiang Library. Ms. Catherine Lau congratulated the opening of the new Zhijiang Library and was pleased to see some similarities between Zhejiang Library and the library system in Singapore. Subsequently, both parties discussed and exchanged ideas on various topics, such as the social cooperation in library services , the application of AI and other new technologies in libraries, the production and promotion of the digital collection, the channel of reading promotion, and the online lending service.

 

 

 

 

In the end of the meeting, gifts were exchanged as both parties look forward to further learning and cooperation in the future, stimulating the development of the librarianship together.
