Zhejiang Library attended the Fifth China-Arab Library and Information Science Professionals Conference
On December 5th and 6th, 2023, Zhejiang Library was among the participants at the Fifth China-Arab Library and Information Science Professionals Conference, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The conference was co-sponsored by the National Library of China (NLC) and the Secretariat of the League of Arab States, and organized by the King Abdul Aziz Public Library of Saudi Arabia. Approximately 40 directors, experts and officials from 12 Chinese institutions, 10 Arab States and the Secretariat of the League of Arab States attended the conference.
The theme of the conference was “The transformation of Library Services under the Change of Information Environment”, and it featured in-depth discussions on four sub-topics. Zhu Yechen, Deputy Director of Zhejiang Library, delivered a keynote speech titled “Technology Empowers Library Services ：Practices of Zhejiang Library ”. In her address, she shared the experiences of Zhejiang Library in utilizing information technology to enhance its services - a topic that was well-received by the attendees.
Representatives from Algeria, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan and other countries also spoke at the conference, discussing the role of libraries and exploring potential cooperation and development between China and Arab States in the field of information. These discussions laid a solid foundation for future innovation and cooperation between China and Arab countries in the realm of technology application.
