Zhijiang Library, that is the new Zhejiang Library, is located within the Zhijiang Cultural Center, the largest modern comprehensive cultural complex in Zhejiang Province, integrating nature, humanity, art, and ecology. It is situated in the Zhijiang area of Xihu District, Hangzhou City. The project primarily includes the construction of the new Zhejiang Library, the new Zhejiang Provincial Museum, the Zhejiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, the Zhejiang Provincial Literature Museum, and supporting facilities.

 

As one of the four buildings, the new Zhejiang Library has a total construction area of approximately 85,000 square meters. It consists of eleven floors, including two underground levels and nine above-ground levels. The underground levels mainly accommodate parking lots and an intelligent book depository. The first underground level is primarily dedicated to theaters, temporary exhibition halls, and audiovisual areas. The first to fifth above-ground floors house various themed reading areas, while the seventh to ninth floors serve as office areas.

 

As an important participant in society, the new Zhejiang Library positions itself as the "the gateway to knowledge, the university beside you." Its aim is to utilize green and innovative technologies to create a new model of public cultural services. The project incorporates economically feasible clean energy solutions and actively innovates in office technology and infrastructure to minimize paper pollution and other environmental issues. While promoting the intelligent development of the library, it also strives to balance user demands, library development, and environmental protection. It aims to address social needs such as user education, health, and heritage preservation, thereby contributing to the library's sustainable future development.

 

The hardware decoration of the new Zhejiang Library is almost completed, and the soft furnishings are being gradually added, with books being relocated. The library is scheduled to open soon for trial operations. Once completed, the new building will serve as the main library of Zhejiang Library. Its collection will primarily focus on humanities, social sciences, and art literature. The new building will become a comprehensive, research-oriented, modern hub of knowledge and information in the province, as well as a regional library network center. It will serve as a new landmark of "Cultural Zhejiang."
