History and future of variety resources of tea plants

The lecture History and Future of Varieties of Tea Plants is jointly held by Zhejiang Library and A Study of Tea in the Lake in the Audio-Visual Room of the Library as scheduled. The lecturer Chen Liang is the researcher of the Tea Research Institute under the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, doctoral supervisor, chief scientist of the Innovation Team of the Germplasm Resources of Tea Plants and expert of the evaluation of germplasm resources of the National Tea Industry System.

Starting with the origins, promotion and categories of tea plants, Chen introduces the diversity of the variety resources of tea plants and its impact on the cultivation of the new varieties, the varieties of existing tree plants, the category of the tea plant to which the most commonly seen tea belongs to, and the relationship between the category of the tea plants with the quality of the tea. Chen briefs the audiences the knowledge on tea plants and the variety resources with both texts and images in plain and humorous language. The legendary research experiences of Chen also makes the lecture entertaining.

At the end, Chen replies questions in which the audiences are interested, such as the relationship between the quality of the tea and the altitude, whether the raw tea hurts the stomach more than the green tea and how to prevent to loss of the quality local tea. After the lecture, the audiences take a picture with Chen.
