The three-month offline poverty alleviation event of Zhejiang Digital Library Promotion Project in 2018, namely, Pleasing Reading and Scholarly Villages ended successfully, which was sponsored by Zhejiang Library, co-organized by Zhejiang Provincial Youth Science and Technology Center, and jointly hosted by the local public libraries of 10 underdeveloped areas in Zhejiang Province, including Tiantai, Pan'an, Jinyun, Suichang, Lanxi, Longyou, Qujiang, Kaihua, Taishun and Qingyuan. This series of was intended to promote the popularization of Digital Library in the countryside, and actively explore the innovative practices of benefiting digital reading at the grassroots level.
From October 23 to 24, Qiu Cheng from Zhejiang Library and Fu Jia from Zhejiang Beijing Opera Troupe came to the countryside of Taishun and Qingyuan with the “credit reading” of the library, “pocket” service of Digital Library, and traditional opera culture to enrich the of the rural elderly, and ushered in the closing ceremony of the event.

On the morning of October 24, the closing ceremony of this three-month promotion event was held in the cultural hall of Shangen Nationality Village, Qingyuan County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province.
At the event, the following distinguished guests attended the closing ceremony, including Yang Qing, Deputy Director of Culture, Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television Bureau (Sports Bureau) of Qingyuan County, Lv Bo, Deputy Director of Information Technology Application Department of Zhejiang Library, Wu Xiangjin, Curator of Qingyuan County Library, Yang Ran, Deputy General Manager of Wuzhourong Media Technology Co., Ltd., Wu Hengqing, Secretary of the Township Party Committee, and Chen Jianrong, Deputy Secretary of the Township Party Committee and Township Head. Additionally, the full Internet coverage of the Qingyuan Cultural Hall and gifting ceremony of “Reading Hotspots” were held on the spot.

This series of event, with its focus on left-behind children and the elderly in poverty-stricken areas, integrated education and culture to jointly promote the scientific and cultural accomplishment of the people in remote and backward areas. The event covered ten villages and towns in Zhejiang Province, and initially achieved the purpose of digital reading promotion in the province, with great results. Although the event is over, the knowledge service network is accessible to the countryside, including the “credit reading” services and “Reading Hotspots”. The library's knowledge services will continue to reach every seeker via the Internet, regardless of distance, age or wealth.
