More than a hundred old photos showcased memories of the great man - Zhou Enlai and Hangzhou Exhibition

From August 25 to September 2, "Zhou Enlai and Hangzhou Memorial Exhibition" was held on the first floor of the exhibition hall in Zhejiang Library. To commemorate the 120th anniversary of Premier Zhou's birthday, the exhibition showcased Premier Zhou's experience in Hangzhou, by exhibiting more than 100 precious photos of Premier Zhou at different periods and stories behind the photos. The exhibition lasted for a week.

On August 25, on the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Tan Tianxing, Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, and Zhou Bingde, former vice president of China News Service, jointly unveiled the "Zhou Enlai and Hangzhou Exhibition". After the ceremony, they also visited the exhibition with the readers and listened to stories behind the photos.

Zhou Enlai was very passionate about Hangzhou before his death. He had been to Hangzhou more than 30 times. This exhibition was mainly divided into six parts: Zhou Enlai and West Lake negotiation for -communist cooperation, Zhou Enlai and China-US ice-breaking Hangzhou negotiation, Zhou Enlai's concern for Hangzhou's construction and development, Zhou Enlai's foreign affairs activities in Hangzhou, Zhou Enlai's style, Zhou Enlai and the masses. Via those photos, the great man was recollected and the stories behind the old photos were tapped into to learn about the history.

The exhibition also invited Hangzhou people who had had group photos with Premier Zhou, such as Hu Ningfang, the little girl in red whom Premier Zhou met by the side of West Lake in 1972 when accompanying Nixon who visited China at that time; Feng Zhenghai, the volleyball player who once made his way into the Olympics with encouragement from Premier Zhou; Doctor Lu, who used to treat Premier Zhou, etc.

On the day of the opening ceremony, Zhou Bingyi, niece of Zhou Enlai and Executive Director of Zhou Enlai Research Society of the Party Literature Research Center, told the readers about the “family traditions of Premier Zhou”.

The participants also included Wang Zaixi, former Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council PRC, Hu Qingguo, Deputy Secretary General of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of CPC and Director of the Party History Research Center of Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Lou Bingwen, Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Director of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee of Zhejiang Province, etc. The exhibition was jointly organized by China News Service Zhejiang Branch, the Party History Research Center of Zhejiang Provincial Committee, the Hangzhou Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Publicity Department of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee, the Party History Research Center of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and the Zhejiang Library.
