To have a Party lesson by reading a good book

Goethe once said, “To read a good book is to talk to many noble minds.” Today, the book we are going to read not only reflects the governance realm of the Party Central Committee of “closely attached to the people, sharing joys and sorrows with them, working in solidarity with them and serving the public round the clock”, but also responds to the concerns of the international community about issues of contemporary China and opens up a window through which one can learn more about contemporary China and the outside world can better understand China. It is July 1st, the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Zhejiang Library invites people of insight from all walks of life to study the Chinese and English versions of the book through its OverDrive Digital Library according to the “21-day reading plan” to have a party lecture by reviewing the classical ideas.

 

The same concept is expressed in both Chinese and English as shown in the picture above, “The Communist Party of China has always adhered to the original intention and mission of seeking happiness for the Chinese people and striving for the revitalization of the Chinese nation, and forges ahead without hesitation for the fulfillment of the mission, thus winning the heartfelt and firm support of the people.”

 

The study event will last from July 5 to July 30, during which readers will be permitted to borrow both the Chinese and English versions of the book from the digital library of Zhejiang Library. Readers can read both versions by logging on the official website of Zhejiang Library and finding the page from https://zjlib.overdrive China.cn in the digital resource column or following the official WeChat No. of Zhejiang Library and then participating in the “21-day reading plan”. The WeChat Subscription Account of Zhejiang Library will also invite senior experts to select a number of sentences from the English translation of the book every day for 21 consecutive days for analysis starting from July 5 for the readers. The paper and electronic book promotion activities themed with “Treasure Library — The National Belief · The 98th Anniversary of the Founding of the Party” will be held at the special bookshelf of the Circulating Department of the second floor of Zhejiang Library.

According to the organizer of the event, if readers will submit their book review for appraisal after studying through the book during the “21-day reading plan”, they will have the opportunity to win rich prizes, such as the tablet-like reader, the WiFi speaker or sports headphones, and have their book reviews that make comparison between Chinese and English versions published in “The World of English”.
