Memories of Civilization, Glory of Chinese Characters—Mao Xiaochun Epigraphy Seal Characters and Mao Xiaodong Ceramic Art Exhibition in Zhejiang Libra

At 10 o’clock on the morning of March 9, with the melodious bamboo flute, “Memories of Civilization, Glory of Chinese Characters—Mao Xiaochun Sphragistics Seal Characters and Mao Xiaodong Ceramic Art Exhibition in Zhejiang Library” was held at the Zhejiang Library. He Hu (Major General of People’s Armed Police), Yang Jianxin (former director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism), Shan Zhiqiang (Deputy Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Political Consultative Conference), Mao Zhenghong (former political commissar of the Zhejiang Provincial Frontier Armed Police), Mao Jianxiang (Deputy Secretary of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee), and Wan Guangzheng (Editor-in-Chief of Hangzhou Daily), Song Tao (Executive Vice President of Hangzhou Calligraphers Association, Council Member of Xiling Seal Art Society), Chu Shuqing (Director of Zhejiang Library), Mao Jianwei (Party Secretary of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology), Mao Chuanlai (Editor-in-Chief of Digital Edition of Zhejiang Daily), and Mao Yiguo (Party Secretary of Zhejiang University Library) and other leaders attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Chu Shuqing, Director of Zhejiang Library, delivered a speech, saying that the Zhejiang Library had become attached to the two artists and held this exhibition to allow more readers to learn about different artistic styles and different art products that could resonate with them through the cultural space of the library. Song Tao, Executive Vice President of Hangzhou Calligraphers Association, and Mao Xiaodong, the intangible cultural heritage inheritor of Shandong Zibo Traditional Ceramics Painting, also delivered speeches.

Mr. Mao Xiaochun presented his works and paintings to the Zhejiang Library. And Ms. Xie Beini, deputy director of Reader Promotion Department of Zhejiang Library, received the donation.

At the end of the opening ceremony, the seven leader guests poured seven basic colors of painting, that is, seven color pigments, into the clear water bottles, and the beautiful changes of the color witnessed the opening of the art exhibition. At the same time, Yang Jianxin, the former Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, announced the official opening of the exhibition.

After the opening ceremony, the leaders visited the exhibition together. Mr. Mao Xiaochun demonstrated the epigraphy calligraphy for the readers. The exhibition was divided into two sections. One was the brilliant Mao Xiaochun epigraphy seal characters exhibition, which displayed nearly 100 pieces of modern calligraphy written by artist Mao Xiaochun in recent years. The other was the literati and ceramics, which exhibited the ceramic works brought by Mao Xiaodong as the inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage. The exhibition will last till March 12.
