On February 10, 2019 (Sunday), the sixth day of the first month of the lunar calendar, the hall outside the first floor of the Zhejiang Library was filled with exciting crowds! To celebrate the Chinese New Year and have more readers experience the traditional Chinese culture and customs, we specially organized the handcraft activities and invited five folk craftsman teachers to give our readers who came to the library five blessings!

The First Blessing: woodcut bookmarks - experience intimacy in the “engraving”. At the event, Mr. Zhang Yanping, the inheritor of the boxwood carving technique who was invited to the library, used her knives and skillful hands to create a creative pattern in wooden bookmarks.

The second blessing: engraving and printing - feel the exquisiteness in the skill. Mr. Huang Jiecheng, the district representative inheritor of Hangzhou Engraving Printing Technology, led his team to give a demonstration and guidance for the readers on the site. Because it was the Year of the Pig, the most popular pattern on the scene was of course the Peppa Pig!

The Third Blessing: fun sugar painting - sweet attack. We invited the folk sugar painting teacher Liu Feng to paint on-site DIY for our readers, who created delicious food in vivid images. The finished sugar paintings were given for free to readers participating in the activity. The team was very long and the activity was very popular!

The Fourth Blessing: Yanxi Lantern - roll up the sleeves and do it. Lanterns are a symbol of festive reunion for the Chinese people. Zhao Na, a teacher from the brand, Zhi Zao Wu, led the readers on the site to make handmade lanterns and experience the festive flavors in the process. It can be said that it was an activity in which all ages participated and there was not a single vacant seat!

The Fifth Blessing: golden pigs on the round fans - draw a new year blessing. Draw a golden pig by yourself on a round fan. Each stroke was a wonderful New Year greeting. Song Ya, an independent fan artist, gave a painting guide at the scene.
