The 9th member representative conference of Zhejiang Library Society was successfully held in Yueqing

From November 1 to 2, 2018, the 9th member representative conference of Zhejiang Library Society was held successfully in Yueqing. A total of 209 representatives, including those from public libraries, universities and research libraries and special guests from Zhejiang Province attended the meeting.

 On the afternoon of November 1, the conference held the 6^th Executive Council of the 8th Session of Zhejiang Library Society, the preparatory meeting of the 9th Congress of Zhejiang Library Society and the first meeting of the presidium of the 9^th Member Congress of Zhejiang Library Society successively. The meeting reviewed and confirmed the qualifications of the representatives of the 9^th Member Congress of Zhejiang Library Society. Members, chairman and secretary-general of the presidium were elected. In addition, the agenda of the meeting was also reviewed and voted on.

On November 2, the formal meeting of the 9^th Member Congress of Zhejiang Library Society (hereinafter referred to as the Society) was hold, in which the reports of the 8^th session of the Council was reviewed and voted on. The 9^th session of the board of directors, executive directors and leaders of the society were elected.

At 9:00 a.m., the conference was held in Yueqing City Library. Dai Yan, former Director of the Personnel Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Culture Department, Ni Wei, former Director of the Public Culture Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, Liu Shenggao, Deputy Director of Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Television, Press and Publication, Ye Zhiji, Director of Yueqing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Television, Press and Publication, Wu Chen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang University Library, Hu Manggu, Vice President of Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology Information, Xu Jie, Party Secretary of Zhejiang Library, Jin Xiaoming, Secretary General of Shanghai Library Society, Liu Xiaoqing, Ying Hui, Xu Yibo, Hu Hairong, Vice Chairmen of the 8^th Council of the Society and other guests attended the conference. The opening ceremony was hosted by Chu Shuqing, Chairman of the 8^th Session of the Society and Curator of Zhejiang Library.

In the opening speech, Dai Yan, former Director of the Personnel Department of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, affirmed the achievements of Zhejiang Provincial Library Society in the past four years. He expressed his hope that the library community would enhance service and innovation in the new era in response to the new situation and new changes. At the same time, he hoped after the establishment of the new leadership team of the society, the awareness of innovation, service, and quality could be further strengthened, improving the academic cohesiveness of the Provincial Library Society and creating a new situation for the work of the Institute.

Ye Zhiji, Director of Yueqing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Television, Press and Publication expressed his congratulations on the convening of the conference and welcomed the representatives attending the conference. He also introduced the cultural influence of Yueqing's diverse cultural atmosphere, high-quality industrial cards and efficient public cultural services.

Subsequently, Liu Xiaoqing, Vice Chairman of the 8^th Session of the Society, read the Decision on Honoring the Outstanding Members and Excellent Workers of Zhejiang Library Society. Representatives received the awards and took a group photo.

During the meeting, Chu Shuqing, Chairman of the 8^th Session of the Society and Curator of Zhejiang Library made a work report for the 8^th session.

The report reviewed the work conducted by the 8^th session since the year of 2014. The 8^th session has given full play to the function of talent pooling and communication platform to promote the new operation style of “library+”. It has also led the new reading normalcy of all people, assisted the improvement of scientific research ability and academic level, and enhanced the social service capabilities of library staff. The social influence of libraries has been boosted; exchanges and cooperation have been promoted. The reading of the whole nation and science popularization has also been improved.

The report pointed out that the new sessions would continue to adapt to the development goals of the library in the new era and closely focus on the construction of cultural Zhejiang. Based on the new normal, the content, connotation and level of services would be improved to promote the transformation and upgrading of library services. The development of libraries in Zhejiang would be further improved.

The financial report of the 8^th Session, revised draft of Charter of Zhejiang Library Society and Membership Fee Standard and Management Measures of Zhejiang Library Society were reviewed during the conference.

The conference elected 118 members of the 9^th Board of Directors and held the first meeting of the 9^th Session. 36 standing directors and new leaders of the society were selected. Chu Shuqing was elected as the Chairman of the 9^th session of the Board of Directors. Wu Chen, Ying Hui, Hu Manggu, Hu Hairong, Xu Jie, Xu Yibo and Tong Qingsong were elected as Vice Chairmen. Wu Xing was elected as Secretary General.

At the closing ceremony, Ni Wei, former Director of the Public Culture Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, made a speech. He congratulated the Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Standing Directors and Secretary General of the 9^th session of the session of the society. He fully affirmed the work of the 8^th Session and expressed his hope that the new session will actively adapt to the new situation and base on a new starting point. He hoped the new session would forge ahead with determination and blaze new trails in a pioneering spirit. It was also his hope that the new session will strive to play of role of leading, coordination and service.

In the afternoon, the new session held its first meeting to discuss and determine the members of the 9^th Academic Committee and the Expert Advisory Committee. Arrangement and deployment for the coming work was also made.

After two days of extremely tight meeting agenda, the 9^th Member Congress of Zhejiang Library Society was successfully concluded after completing various tasks.
