In order to promote popularization of digital libraries in rural areas and actively explore creative practices for the benefit of grass-root people under the digital reading, series of offline anti-poverty campaigns themed “Pleasing Reading and Scholarly Villages” were kicked off in Tiantai County of Taizhou City on August 20. The campaigns were jointly organized by Zhejiang Library, Zhejiang Provincial Youth Science and Technology Center, etc.

Relying on “credit reading” service, the traditional library services were extended to the countryside through the Internet in the event. Launched on April 23, 2018, Zhejiang Public Library Credit Service Platform made use of Zhima Credit. When the credit point reached 550, the user could establish a library card for any public library in the province via Alipay and borrow the latest books through 150+ database resource “credit reading” platforms of the whole province, rendering a new experience of "reading with credit points, which in turn enhance the credit points".

Zhejiang Library was honored to co-organize the “Hand in Hand to Explore the Mysteries of Science” activity with Zhejiang Provincial Youth Science and Technology Center. This move targeted at encouraging children to act as teachers and record their own programming ideas, intelligent design and scientific trivia around them in 5-8 minutes of small videos, which were then submitted via Science video channel of the "2018 Zhejiang Primary and Middle School Information Technology Creative Design Contest". After expert review, works were selected. The winners could not only be awarded the certificate of the contest, but their works could also be disseminated to the remote and poor mountain villages via the “Reading Hotspots” channel of Zhejiang Library. Thus, the students could become “small teachers” to teach the children in the mountains about the science and even the world, stimulating their interest in creation and sense of pride.

Besides excellent works of “small teachers”, the “Hotspots” also contained audio and video resources presented by China Intercontinental Press about China's reform and opening up, economic development, social progress and coordinated growth of socialist material civilization, political civilization and spiritual civilization. In addition, the plate of “family tradition” was added to spread the excellent family practices. With the “Reading Hotspots” as the medium, multi-channel resources were integrated to spread the spirit of “Committed to Learning and Moralisation” to every grass-root people.

Next, Zhejiang Library will promote its digital library service to Lanxi, Qujiang, Jinyun, Taishun, Pan'an, Longyou, Kaihua, Qingyuan, Suichang, etc. This move is to bring the knowledge into children and the elderly who are in need of knowledge, realizing the purpose of cultivating the culture of reading via library and enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the people.
