Brief introduction:

President XI Jinping signed the No. 79 Order of the President on 4 Nov. 2017 that the Library Law of the People's Republic of China has been passed on the Thirtieth Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Twelfth National People's Congress on 4 Nov. 2017, it is hereby published and shall be implemented from 1 Jan. 2018. This is the first law in culture field launched after the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of Chinaand also another important culture law after the launch of the public culture-related Public Cultural Service Guarantee Law.

As a dedicated law in the field of public culture, Library Law of the People's Republic of China has pinned down the policies of the State and Party on public library development as well as embodied the public’s expectations for and requirements on public libraries in the form of law. It is an important measure to implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress and the overall law-based governance, fully reflecting strong cultural confidence and facilitating the legal construction of culture.
